Systeme.io vs Runza for solopreneurs: same goal, different answer to "who does the work?"

This page is a fit check, not a dunk. Ace, Runza’s AI co-founder who does the work, runs your site, customers, invoicing, and marketing in one place.

If you are a solopreneur comparing all-in-ones, you have probably already found Systeme.io. It deserves the attention. It replaced an expensive pile of funnel, email, and course tools for a lot of people, and it has a free plan that never expires.

So this is not a "Systeme bad, Runza good" page. Both products want the same thing for you: fewer tools, fewer logins, and one place to run the business. They just give very different answers to one question.

When something needs doing, who does it?

  • In Systeme.io, you get a strong set of tools, and you run them. Its AI can now take commands inside the product, which helps.
  • In Runza, you get Ace, Runza's AI co-founder who does the work. Ace does the work with you: builds and updates your website, keeps track of your customers, sends invoices, and runs your marketing. You stay the owner. Ace does the busywork.

Here is the honest version of how they compare, including where Systeme is the better pick.

Where Systeme.io is the better choice

We would genuinely point you to Systeme if:

  • You sell online through funnels. Opt-in page, sales page, upsell, order bump, email sequence. That is Systeme's home field, and it is built for exactly that flow.
  • Courses or a membership are the business. Systeme's course builder covers video lessons, drip schedules, quizzes, and bundles, and it supports unlimited students.
  • You run an affiliate program or want evergreen webinars.
  • Budget is the deciding factor right now. Under 2,000 contacts, Systeme is free. You cannot beat free, and we are not going to pretend to.
  • You like building. If setting up funnels and automations is fun for you, a toolkit is a feature, not a chore.

A lot of people found Systeme the same way. One affiliate marketer described stacking ClickFunnels, Kajabi, SamCart, ConvertKit, Calendly, and webinar tools that cost them "$300–$500/month just to run the basics" before moving over (r/YouTubeAffiliates). In an r/agency thread, another user said they tried GoHighLevel, found it "kinda too much," and landed on Systeme because they "just wanted to set stuff up without messing with a million settings" (r/agency). Consolidating like that is a smart move. (We broke down that kind of stack line by line in what a ClickFunnels, Kit, Calendly, and Zapier stack actually costs.)

Where Runza is the better choice

Runza fits better if:

  • You sell a service, not a funnel. You clean windows, coach clients one on one, consult, design, fix things, or do anything where the work is booked, delivered, and invoiced. See Runza for local services, freelancers, consultants, and coaches.
  • The problem is not the number of tools. It is the number of jobs. Even in one tidy dashboard, someone still has to write the page, follow up with the lead, send the invoice, and post this week. In Runza, Ace does those jobs with you.
  • You do not want to learn a funnel builder. You tell Ace what you are trying to do ("get more spring bookings," "chase the two unpaid invoices") and Ace does the steps.
  • You want one place that sees the whole business. Site, customers, money, and marketing together, so the next step is obvious.

That last point is the gap people keep describing. On Indie Hackers, one solo founder wrote that a tool to see sales, support, and finance "in one place (without context switching into 4 different dashboards) is the one that doesn't exist yet for most solopreneurs" (Indie Hackers). Runza is our attempt at that, with Ace doing the work inside it.

"But Systeme has AI now too." Yes, and here is the real difference.

This matters, so here it is plainly.

Systeme.io has added real AI. Its AI Chat is "designed to execute tasks": you type commands and it can create contacts and tags, build funnels and funnel pages, generate page content, and set up newsletters and email campaigns. Right now it is available on the Unlimited plan, for workspace owners and admins (Systeme.io help center). Systeme also offers a free MCP server on every plan, so you can connect ChatGPT or Claude and have it build inside your account, with your approval before sensitive actions (systeme.io/mcp).

That is useful. It is also a different job from what Ace does.

Systeme AI Chat / MCPAce in Runza
What you give itA command ("create a webinar funnel with registration and thank-you pages")A goal ("I want more bookings this month")
What it knowsYour Systeme workspace: funnels, contacts, campaigns, coursesYour whole business: site, customers, invoices, marketing, and what you told it you are trying to do
Who decides what to do nextYou do, then you tell the AIAce suggests the next few moves, and you approve
Built aroundFunnels, courses, and emailThe four jobs a solo business cannot skip: website, customers, invoicing, marketing

Put simply: Systeme's AI helps you operate Systeme faster. Ace helps you run the business.

The price question, honestly

Systeme.io is cheaper. Here are their published plans, checked October 23, 2026 (Systeme.io pricing):

Systeme.io planPriceMain limits
Free$02,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 course
Startup$17/mo5,000 contacts, 10 sales funnels, 5 courses
Webinar$47/mo10,000 contacts, 50 sales funnels, 20 courses, evergreen webinars
Unlimited$97/moUnlimited contacts, funnels, courses; AI Chat is currently on this plan

All Systeme plans include unlimited email sends and 0% transaction fees, according to the same page. Systeme takes nothing from your sales; you still pay your payment processor (Stripe or PayPal) its normal fee.

Runza Starter is $14/mo, Pro is $69/mo with a 30-day trial, and Business is $129/mo. There is also a free plan. See Runza pricing for the current plans.

One more line belongs in this math. When a customer pays you by card through Runza, Runza takes 1% of the sale, plus Stripe's standard processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ for US domestic cards, checked October 22, 2026). Systeme takes 0%. So on a $100 card payment, Runza's 1% is $1 on top of the processing fee you would pay either way. If most of your income runs through online checkout, count that in.

So if you compare sticker to sticker, and fee to fee, Systeme wins. The better question is what you are paying for:

  • With Systeme, you pay for tools. The hours to set up and run them are yours.
  • With Runza, you pay for tools plus Ace doing the work. The hours come back to you.

If you have time and enjoy building, Systeme is the better deal. If time is the thing you are short on, that is where Runza earns its price.

Yes. Some people will. A coach might keep courses and a membership on Systeme and use Runza with Ace for the client side of the business: the site, bookings, follow-ups, invoices, and weekly marketing. Pick for the job that hurts most this quarter.

FAQ

Is Runza a Systeme.io alternative?
For service businesses and solo operators, yes. For course creators and funnel-first sellers, Systeme is probably still the better fit.

Is Runza cheaper than Systeme.io?
No. Systeme's free and $17 plans are cheaper, and Systeme takes 0% of your sales while Runza takes 1% plus Stripe's fee. Runza costs more because Ace does the work instead of handing you tools to operate.

Does Systeme.io have AI?
Yes. Its AI Chat can execute tasks on the Unlimited plan, and its free MCP server lets ChatGPT or Claude work inside your account on any plan. Ace is different because it works from your goals across the whole business, not from commands inside one toolkit.

I'm already on Systeme. Should I switch?
If it is working and you have the time to run it, stay. If your dashboard is tidy but the work still is not getting done, that is the conversation about Ace. Start a 30-day Pro trial and see if it changes your week.

What does "all-in-one" even mean?
Good question. We wrote an honest FAQ on that: Isn't GoHighLevel, HubSpot, or Systeme.io enough? And if you are still stitching tools together, start with The Frankenstack.

The bottom line

Systeme.io gives solopreneurs an affordable all-in-one toolkit to run. Runza gives them Ace, an AI co-founder who runs the work with them.

If you want to build and operate funnels on a budget, choose Systeme. If you want the website, customers, invoices, and marketing handled while you do the actual work of your business, try Runza.
